What do you think of the word "mutt"? Is it a positive or negative word?

I just realised that I never, ever, use the word 'mutt'! Certainly not as a term of endearment to my bundles. Perhaps it is just us Brits being stuck up, but I certainly have not heard this word since many days gone by. Much like the word fanny falls in the league of the Victorian days. I am sure some people may use it from time to time and even relating to things other than a dog. I wouldn't know whether I would consider this negative or positive, simply we just do not use it, at all. At least not in my circle of acquaintances. I guess it depends what part of the world you articulate yourself. Nice walk down memory lane though. LOL
