Why hasn't he said or done anything? Guys especially?

My friend likes this guy who she met a few weeks ago in our school musical. They have known each other for a few weeks now. They have only spoken a handful of times but she is thoroughly infatuated with him. On Saturday, she decided to send him a Facebook message basically telling him (more drawn out than needed and quite strangely nearly to the point where it's incomprehensible besides the part where she plainly stated she really likes him) that she liked him. He has been on multiple times for a long while since then and I'm almost positive that he's seen it, but he hasn't said or done anything about it. I know the guy a fair amount and he isn't a coward or a jerk, so he'd most likely at least turn her down politely. Are there any other reasons why he didn't respond or do you have any thoughts or opinions on this? Do you think he's likely to ever say anything? Anything you have to say is greatly appreciated...
