Why do people say there's no difference between the parties?

Primarily because they are both funded by corporations and seem to always put corporate interests ahead of the real interests of the people. They are so similar that only in minor details do you find a difference. The third and proven point is if a third party were to really emerge as an option you would see the dems and rethugs join immediately to try and squash them.
