How will we get out of this economic crisis without paying taxes?
I lost count of how many times conservatives here have criticized me for suggesting we raise taxes. I didn't have a tea party because I don't think it's a travesty that people who make more than $200K a year should pay taxes. I think it's messed up that they get all the tax breaks. What makes Joe the Plumber so special that the rules don't apply to him? I think we should even legalize gambling, prostitution, and pot and tax the daylights out of them, too. Repealing Prohibition was what got us out of the Great Depression. Most people credit World War II, but that didn't start until 1939. The economy was already on the upswing after Prohibition was repealed. That's what got FDR re-elected in 1936. Yes, I think we should spend less, too. For example we should spend less money on war and defense and spend more on offense (which is health care and education.) The best defense is a great offense. I'm even for a progressive sales tax. More expensive and luxurious items should have higher taxes. I'm pretty sure that would help curtail our consuming habits. America makes up less than 5 percent of the world's population, yet we consume 25 percent of the world's resources. If anyone has any suggestions on how to reinvigorate the economy other than paying taxes, please let me know.
